When I go camping, I like to plan out my meal menu.  This way we can have some overlap in ingredients, but still create different things to eat.  One of the best parts about doing this is that on the … Continue reading

The No Pins Camping Clothesline

I came across the no pins camping clothes line while perusing MaddyTheGoose.com, a canoeing and camping website run by Troy Gaylord.  I tried it and it worked so well that I had to share it with you!

No Pins Camping ClotheslineWhen you set up your clothesline at camp, double up the rope before tying it to the first tree.  Then, twist the two pieces together along the length of the line until there is a twist about every 4 or 5 inches.  Then tie the other end to the second tree.

Hang your clothes by sticking a piece of fabric through the twists.  Your clothes will be held in place without the need for clothespins!

Tank top hanging on the no pins camping clotheslineAn added bonus is that the doubled up rope is twice as strong so it doesn’t say much under the weight of wet clothes.  We hung a sleeping bag on it to dry after an overnight thunderstorm and it held up perfectly.

Give it a try!

A little plug for Maddy The Goose:  Troy has put together a couple of video series chronicling his adventures canoeing in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada.  They are fabulous and completely worth the time to watch.

What camping tricks do you use to make the experience more enjoyable?
