We have a tradition of going to the apple orchard every fall to spend time outside amongst cheerful kids and parents, to pick out a pumpkin or two, and to get our fix of apple baked goods.
We are lucky to live in a part of the country where several varieties of apples grow well. We have our choice of a dozen or so orchards all within an hour’s drive. Still, we almost always end up at Pine Tree Apple Orchard. I went on several field trips to this orchard as a child and almost nothing has changed in the past couple of decades. It brings back warm memories of my childhood and gives me an opportunity to create new memories with my wife and hopefully, someday, my children.
Pine Tree Apple Orchard is located on the shore of a small lake surrounded by woods. On sunny days, the suns reflection off the water is almost hypnotic. We stroll through the orchard and walk through the pumpkin patch before venturing into the barn to pick out our goodies. You can see what I made with our apples here.
They offer hay rides and sometimes we go for the ride. Mostly, I like watching the joy on the little kids faces. To me, it’s not Fall until I’ve been to the orchard.
What traditions do you have to celebrate the change in seasons?
