It sounds similar to my situation. There is something internally making you hesitate. If it is like me it is a version of fear but not one we are accustomed to encountering. I would always lose momentum at the thought if all the steps involved like editing, will the writing be long enough, what if it is not right. Take some time to ask yourself why you have not done it. If it seems like there is no good reason then it very well may be the hidden fear. Learn to recognize it and then run toward it. That is what I am doing.
