I’m usually pretty calm. I’m a little afraid that could change under the stress of having new family members. At least there’s a little bit of time before he’s a teenager.

My best advice is to stay calm!

I have one right now that has a hard time staying calm. As she gets louder I get louder. The louder I get the less control I have of the situation.

It has taken me a couple of years to be able to talk nice and slowly and calm while my kid is losing all control.

My dad yelled a lot, I don’t want to yell.

This sounds A LOT easier than it sounds. I have never been someone who loses their temper. Teenagers have a way of making you lose your mind.

My experience is that rearing your children the way the Bible says is very different than what the worlds best physiologists tell us, but God’s way works the absolute best. No substitute for God’s Word! I’ll cheat here and say be authentic and admit to your kids when you are wrong and when you fail. It goes a long way.

I’ve noticed that I too was focusing a lot of my attention on learning business and areas of personal growth, not on how to be the best parent.

I’ve changed that and am now reading/learning more in this area too.

A book that I really enjoyed was “Have a New Kid by Friday” by Dr. Kevin Leman. It changed a lot of how I parent.
